A “hemp home” isn’t built out of hemp plants alone, of course. The star material is hempcrete — a blend of the woody core of the hemp plant, lime, and water. When cured, hempcrete forms a strong, lightweight, and breathable building material that’s naturally insulating, pest-resistant, and fire-resistant. It’s also carbon-negative, meaning it absorbs more CO₂ over its lifetime than it emits during production.
